About the Elder Board
We believe the evidence of the New Testament supports an Elder form of government in the local church. Therefore, we are governed in this manner and not by congregational meetings.
Elders:
- Are men who meet the character qualifications established by Paul in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
- Provide oversight for the pastoral staff who will lead and direct the church
Official Board
The Official Board is the Board of Directors (Elders) for each local church in the Berean Fellowship of Churches. This Board appoints a President and a Secretary/Treasurer. A typical Board term is a minimum of five years. It is the Board’s responsibility to add to, or change, its membership as it determines the best interest of the church.
The Board’s purpose is to:
- Provide spiritual oversight to the pastors and the church conduct the business affairs of the church.
- All ministries, leaders, and staff of the church are ultimately accountable to this Board.
