5th and 6th grades
This class is designed to prepare children for the upcoming teen years by looking at what the Bible says about the many real issues preteens will face as they become teenagers on the path to adulthood. The class is an expedition by a company of young explorers (preadolescents) led by their guides (small group leaders) who must explore a fictitious geographic region in the early 1800s. The region is filled with magnificent splendor and severe hazard! (It is much like the yet unexplored adolescent life.) The new land is virtually unexplored by others; we must find the way safely to our destination with the “map” (God’s word) that has been passed down to us.
Children learn to study scripture using the workman training principles. Some of the biblical topics we cover include: Giving, Humility, Self Control, Honesty, Good Speech, Inner Confidence, Good Company, Purity, Loyalty, Balanced Living.
