A GREAT VIEW

Your view of God determines everything.  Years ago, I heard a speaker make that statement.  The older I get, the more I see the truth of that thought.  As a nation Israel was on the cusp of entering the Promised Land.  After 4o0 years of slavery in Egypt, they had seen God deliver them from Pharaoh’s hand through a series of miracles.  They sent 12 spies to scout out the Promised Land.  Ten of those spies came back saying, “No way.  The land is great, but the people are giants.  We can’t take the land.”  The other two spies, Joshua and Caleb said, “Let’s go.  We can trust God against the giants.”  Why the differences in suggestions?  Different views of God.  The people of Israel followed the majority and decided not to take the land.   In Numbers 14:4, we see what they decided instead of entering the Promised Land.

4So they said to one another, “Let us appoint a leader and return to Egypt.”

Can you believe it?  They’d rather go back to Egypt than enter the Promised Land.  What’s the root issue?  Their view of God — they don’t think God can handle their circumstances.   How often do we miss out on God’s best because we don’t trust Him in hard circumstances?  I’m praying that God would improve my view of Him so I can experience all He has for me.
