Andy’s North Pointe Prayer BulletinÂ
In the past few days, the world’s community has expressed outrage at a military coup in Honduras. Honduras faces trade embargos and expulsion from the Organization of American States. Why the outrage and threats? The military leaders removed a freely elected president. In their thirst for power, these leaders trampled truth and justice. Â
Â
In His day, Jesus faced a similar power-thirsty leadership.  Right after Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, many Jewish people believed in Him. (John 11:45)  And why not?  If somebody can raise a dead person to life, we should seriously consider putting our faith in that person. However in John 11:47-48, the Jewish leadership had a different response to Jesus’ miracle.Â
Â
47Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were saying, “What are we doing? For this man is performing many signs. 48“If we let Him go on like this, all men will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.”Â
Â
As the conversation continues, the leadership makes plans to kill Jesus. Why does the Jewish leadership respond to Jesus’ miracle with a plan of murder instead of a declaration of faith? For the same reason the military led a coup in Honduras, they want power and control. That same desire for power and control keeps some of our family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers from submitting to Jesus.  And let’s be honest, at times, it stands in the way of our full submission to Christ.Â
Â
+ Pray that God would be at work in our heart and the hearts of those around us so that we would lay down our thirst for power and submit to Christ.Â
Â
+ Praise God that He has brought us this far in the process of building a permanent home.Â
Â
+ Pray that God would guide the many decisions involved in the building process.
Â
Thanks for praying with me,
